A Sabbatical Prayer
Guide us, Lord, as we all journey through the months ahead together. Help us to walk trustingly in faith with our parish family and to serve one another humbly. May we always be aware of your presence and direction in all we do. Amen.

The above prayer was selected by the Sabbatical Team to ground us as a community. Thank you to member Joan Fader for composing it. Beginning this Sunday it will be included in our weekly worship, and we invite you to add it to your regular prayers as well.
Please look for our Sabbatical Newsletter, a new communication devoted to sharing news and information about our upcoming time of sabbatical and renewal. Do you have an hour or two on a Saturday that you can give in service? Saturdays are one of the busiest days at the Thrift Shop and a extra set of hands (or several!) are always welcome. No experience needed, just drop by let the staff know you’re there to work!
In 2007, when we moved into St. James’ new building, a drawing was completed for our Memorial Garden and Columbarium area. The total expense was more than we could afford but several landscape and architectural items have been donated to the garden space as the years have gone by. Four lovely trees were planted, and a large rock with fountain system was…
Friday, May 13 may seem far off, but it will be here before you know it, so this Sunday tickets go on sale for our final Arts on the Hill Concert! The Sunday School students had so much fun collecting colored eggs on the church grounds Easter morning – even though it was a chilly one! Thank you all for your egg donations and the neat surprises found inside. A visit from Rev. Portia+ On Tuesday, April the 5th, Rev. Portia+ will be at St. James’ for the blessing of the building dedication…
Dear St. James’ Parish Family, Alleluia! Christ is risen! We are now in Eastertide, the great 50 days in which the Church celebrates the resurrection (notice it’s longer than the puny 40 days of Lent!). In Lent, we gathered on Monday nights to explore different ways of praying and what it means to create a life of prayer. In Eastertide, you are invited to join…
On Easter Day (both services) children and families may turn in their mite boxes to benefit A is for Africa. We give thanks for the many coins you have been saving during Lent to benefit those in need. Parents please note: The children will be singing on Tuesday, April 5th, when Rev. Portia+ will be present for a blessing of the church dedication plaque…
This Sunday we celebrate the Sunday of the Passion: Palm Sunday, and with it we enter Holy Week. For centuries upon centuries Christians have been gathering together to retrace the last steps of the Christ. This is what we do when we gather on Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Holy Saturday to prepare for the joy of Easter Day. We believe that…
Journey to Jerusalem with them on Palm Sunday from 9:30-10:15 during their group activity. The students will receive passports as they enter the lower level, make palm branches, witness foot washing, experience the Last Supper, pray in the darkness and witness an empty tomb. And then we will dance!!! We’d love to have you join us.
As Christians we are people of story. A few weekends ago your Vestry and I met and made retreat, and a part of the work we engaged in was their role as leaders in this community as storytellers. Storytellers re-member (as in literally put together) our stories – stringing them together like a pearl necklace to create a bigger story. This is…
