Richard Drehoff Jr. is a composer, conductor, and keyboardist who champions interdisciplinary projects of the twenty-first century. With a keen interest in pioneering new ways to experience music, Richard directs several organizations dedicated to performing contemporary art music across the east coast. Prior to serving at St. James’ Episcopal Church, he served as the Music Director and Pianist at Damascus Congregational Christian Church in Chapel Hill, NC, while maintaining a piano studio of 35 students of all ages. While in NC, Richard also worked on the staff of the Marching Tar Heels of The University of North Carolina, from where Richard holds a Bachelor of Music with a second major in Mathematics. He is currently pursing a Master of Music in Composition at the Peabody Conservatory at Johns Hopkins University, where he studies with Michael Hersch and serves as Graduate Assistant in the department of music theory.
