We will begin at 6:30 pm with a Simple Soup Supper followed by Holy Eucharist, Washing of Feet and Anointing of Hands. We will end with the Stripping of the Altar.
The washing of feet on Maundy Thursday is one of the most ancient and universal rites in the Christian Church. It is a reminder to us all of the humility necessary to be ministers with one another. The service concludes with the reserve sacrament, the outward and visible sign of the presence of Christ, being processed to the altar of repose where it will lie in state overnight. The altar is then stripped, and the Sanctuary Candle is extinguished.
