Each year our Sunday School children decorate mite boxes for our lenten donation to A is for Africa. Church members participate by picking up a box and collecting their loose change during lent and returning their full box at our ingathering on Easter Day.
Our presentation was made to Rick and Mary Anne Smith, Directors of the organization, at our Sunday School Closing Ceremony on June 3, 2018. This year’s donation was a whopping $1,101.80! for which Rich and Mary Anne were grateful. Check out the lovely thank you letter we received by clicking here.
The kids were treated to some quality time with Mary Anne where they learned about the impact of their efforts and saw the faces of their African friends at the Matin Primary School.

“Working together with our in-country partners and a vast and growing group of committed volunteers, A is for Africa has contributed to the significant achievement of Matim Primary School in Arusha, Tanzania. While much has been accomplished, there is much still to be done. It takes a village – and in our case we are proud of creating a village that spans from the foothills of Arusha, Tanzania to the elementary schools and community groups of Mt. Airy, Maryland to other friends and family around the world.” ~Rick Smith
