A Sabbatical Prayer

Guide us, Lord, as we all journey through the months ahead together.
Help us to walk trustingly in faith with our parish family and to serve one another humbly.
May we always be aware of your presence and direction in all we do.
Be with Kristin+, Zachary, and Jasper and give them joy and contentment as they travel, and return them safely to us. Amen.

Scouts

Troop 829B and 829G have been very busy since our last update.  In March we collected 1716 Lbs of food and a $20 donation to support the Mt. Airy Net. In June we had the honor of performing color guard duties at Ellsworth Cemetery, where a number of previously unmarked graves of African-American Civil War and World War I soldiers that researchers discovered their location and the names of the officers, received their tombstones.

We’ve also had a number of campouts both local and up at our council campground (Broad Creek Scout Reservation) in Whiteford, MD. We spent our summer camp there in July as well and the troop earned over 52 merit badges and several awards (lots of pictures can be seen on our Facebook Page – https://www.facebook.com/ScoutsBSATroop829).

For service to the church we helped out at the Community Shred Event as well as the St. James’ Game Night.  Last week we spread new mulch in the Nursery School Playground.  To top off our summer we are going on a whitewater rafting and biking weekend this weekend.

For the remainder of the year we are selling camp cards to fund raise for the troop.  For $5 you get a coupon card that is good for discounts to places like Ace Hardware,Jiffy Lube, Great Clips, Wendy’s, Sonic, Sky Zone, Popeyes, Medieval Times, Tractor Supply and More. You could make your money back with just one use and they make great gifts. They benefit the scouts in the troop to help them pay for summer camp and troop activities.  Please consider helping us out by purchasing some.  You can reach out to Scoutmaster Bill Cunnane (billcunnane@hotmail.com) and he can bring some to Sunday service or we deliver them.  Here is a general picture of both sides of the card –
