Bishop Search Listening Sessions & Survey
As you may remember, last year Bishop Sutton called for the election of a bishop coadjutor as he plans to retire in 2024. The Bishop Search Committee is hard at work developing a search profile and there are two upcoming ways for you to participate.
The first is by attending an upcoming listening session. These gatherings assist with discernment of qualities our diocese is seeking in its next bishop. The schedule of in-person sessions is listed below. Click on the name of the congregation at which you would like to attend a listening session to RSVP. Space is limited in some churches and so they kindly ask you let the Search Committee and host church you are planning to attend by filling out the RSVP. In addition, we’ve been told that there will be Zoom listening dates as well, we will pass those on as soon as we receive information.
They second way you can contribute to the calling of our next bishop is to fill out a diocese-wide survey that will be coming out shortly. Every member of every congregation is encouraged to take this brief survey. We expect the link and directions to be sent out to congregations shortly, so look for a standalone email containing this information next week.
This is an exciting time for our diocese as we imagine and build what’s next. I hope you will join me in taking part in this important work.
Yours in God’s peace,
Kristin+

Outreach
Finance/Stewardship
Per recent guidance from the Episcopal Diocese of Maryland, each congregation is required to obtain an annual audit of its parochial report and financial data. We have had several wonderful volunteers from our congregation that have performed these audits in the past. Our Treasurer, Natalie DelRegno will be attending a training session, put on by the Diocese, on April 23rd to review financial expectations and processes for implementing these audits. If anyone is interested in
attending this training with her, please contact her at treasurer@stjamesmtairy.org.”
Scouts
On March 13th we are doing our first Scouting for Food door-to-door collection of food donations for the Mt. Airy Net. We are canvasing the areas highlighted in red while another troop will be covering the areas highlighted in orange (if you do not live in these neighborhoods or wish to bring your food donation directly to the church, please support our food drive by bringing non-expired canned and/or dry goods to the 8:30am or 10:30am service at St. James’ on that day).
Sunday Worship Information
Join us on March 20th for the Second Sunday in Lent for Holy Eucharist at 8:30 am or 10:30 am, or watch the 10:30 am service livestreamed on Facebook.
A printable bulletin is available here.
