Update on the Beyond Shelter Campaign

Check out this amazing update from The Rev. Kathleen Smith-Jones on the Beyond Shelter Campaign about which she shared with us during online worship last month. The churches in the Frederick Region have given so generously that the original goal has been surpassed and we’re now working toward a stretch goal! I made a donation to the campaign from the Rector’s Discretionary Fund on behalf of the St. James’ community, but it’s not too late if you would like to make a personal donation too. Read on and click the link below for details.

Yours in God’s peace,
Kristin+

I’m excited to announce that the campaign to make the new emergency family homeless shelter serving Frederick County a reality has shown the generosity of our congregations. Click here for the full announcement. The remediation phase of the work has begun, and the shelter is expected to open in the Spring of 2022. Our original modest goal of $10,000 has been exceeded and so I feel guided by the Spirit to increase that goal to $25,000. There have been over $18,000 in donations to date, and I believe that our congregations can raise the remaining $7,000 over the next two years. We will be given the naming opportunity for the Registration Suite (rather than the laundry room). Thank you for your continued generosity.
Grace and blessings on your path,
The Rev. Kathleen Aidan Smith-Jones
Regional Deacon, Frederick, Maryland

Financial Help for Parishioners

The members of our community who gave a generous donation to the Rector’s Discretionary Fund with the hope of helping parishioners with winter heating assistance have extended these funds to help parishioners in whatever way in needed during these tough times. Please reach out to Rev. Kristin for more information if we can help you in the coming months.

An Order for laywomen of the Episcopal Church
Karen Dulany, Joan Fader, Margaret Neff, Peg Pelch

Here we are beginning the month of February with upcoming Lent beginning on the 17th.  It has been quite a year for everyone!

The Daughters of the King continue to hold our parish family in prayer during these uncertain times.  We miss being together and seeing everyone in person.  Please remember that your prayer requests are always welcomed.  Prayer is the foundation from which our service grows:

Prayer without work is empty words.
Service without prayer is labor lost.
