Vestry – Replenish & Establish Going Forward

Thanks to the generosity of this community, we have 56 pledges/donations for a total of $180,865 – just shy of our $185,000 goal for our Replenish & Establish Project.  Of the total pledged, we have received $66,517 to date.  You may be wondering, now what?

As the goal of the Replenish & Establish Project stated, our hope was to replenish our Operating Reserve account and establish a Capital Reserve account for large capital expenses.  To this end, the Vestry voted at the May meeting, using the $180,865 benchmark, to add a total of $60,000 in the Operating Reserve account, and put the balance of $120,865 in the Capital Reserve account.  To begin with, all monies received will be split 50/50 between the accounts until the $60,000 threshold on the Operating Reserve account has been reached.  All subsequent monies will go into the Capital Reserve account.

Additionally, the Vestry voted at the March meeting on parameters for spending from the Capital Reserve account.  General repair expenses (plumbing, lighting, locksmith, materials) up to $2,500 will be paid from the regular Operating account.  Repairs and replacement parts and small equipment from $2,501-$5,000 will be approved by the Executive Committee (Rector, Wardens, Treasurer) with report to the entire Vestry in a timely manner and funded from the Operating Reserve account as needed.  Major repairs and replacements of large equipment and facility improvement work as outlined in the Capital Expenses Timeline & Cost sheet will be approved by the entire Vestry, and will utilize funds from the Capital Reserve account.

Our building is a decade old, and if you own a home, you know that this is the time when things start to need fixing and replacing.  Because this work happens during the week (and often behind the closed doors of the mechanical room), our plan is to include regular reports (with pictures when we can!) of repairs and other capital expenses going forward to keep you informed.

If you have any questions, please contact Cheri McClanahan, Senior Warden, Ty Conlon, Junior Warden, or Jane Barger, Treasurer.

The donations are coming in more than ever now with the warm weather. The shop is stocked with housewares of all kinds and decorative items. The kid’s room is full of clothes, toys, books and puzzles. Thrifty Finds is full of nick knacks. The craft area is exploding and of course we have plenty of summer shoes and clothing.

The Thrift Shop runs sales on a daily basis. Out next big sale will be Wacky Wednesday, 5/30/18 from 10am-4pm. This is always the last Wednesday of the month so mark your calendars. When you come to the register to pay for your purchases you will get a chance to spin the wheel of savings and get a free item or a percentage off your total purchase.

I want to take this opportunity to thank all of you for supporting the Supply Drive. Your donations are greatly appreciated.
