Every year at the Easter Vigil we begin by lighting the new fire, gradually moving from darkness to light, ending with the celebration of the first Eucharist of Easter. But before we let ring our alleluias, we gather in candlelight to tell our sacred stories, remembering the arc of salvation beginning with the creation story.
This year for our Lenten series, we will spend time exploring the five stories from the Hebrew Scriptures that will be read and sung at the Easter Vigil. Why do we tell these stories again and again? How do they help move us from death to life? Using word and image, we will use a modified form of lectio divina (divine reading) to read, learn about, reflect, and contemplate these amazing stories. The hope is to deepen our experience of the Vigil this year.
We will gather at Noon for a simple soup lunch and our program, ending by 1:15 pm.
