St. James’ Nursery School is off to another fantastic year! In the beginning of September the children had an exciting start to a new school year. All the children adjusted well to their teachers, former and/or new friends, and classroom configuration. The teachers and staff work together to make sure each and every child feels secure, feels free to explore, encourage new friendships, and help the children to grow/develop competences in many areas.
Some activities in September included library bookmobile story-time visits, the 2’s class potluck at the park, chapel times with Rev. Kristin, Mt. Airy Fire Company visits for fire safety lesson, Charlestown Wrap fundraiser began (proceeds from this fundraiser will be put towards the spring trip to the National Zoo), 2’s field trip to Clark’s Elloak Farm plus numerous learning and fun classroom adventures.
There is a new application called Celly being used in certain classroom groups. This application is being used to help improve daily communication to families. With Celly teachers create a private social network which can keep parents in touch by communicating current activities, pictures, etc. How exciting and fun is this to be able to check out what your child is doing while you are at work or home! Celly can be viewed by families on cell phones, laptops, etc. once the application has been downloaded and a login has been set up. Autumn will be exploding in the classrooms during the month of October. Discovering autumn colors through leaves, pumpkins, etc. is always a fun adventure as well as decorating and costume dressing for Halloween.
