Dear St. James’ Parish Family,
Last week nine members of St. James’, along with some parents from the Nursery School, attended a CPR/AED training session. It’s always good for a community when there’s a core group who attend each service that know CPR. But what’s even better is the newly purchased AED we are sharing with the Nursery School.
What is an AED? It’s an automated external defibrillator, a lifesaving device that can help when someone is experiencing cardiac arrest. Our new AED was purchased by the Nursery School using a
combination moneys collected through a school fundraiser. The parish will pick up responsibility for the continued inspection and maintenance of the device, as well as maintaining a team of folk trained in how to use it. It’s worth noting that all Nursery School staff and teachers are CPR/AED trained also. The AED is here and ready for use, and the case which holds it will be mounted in the narthex shortly.
I am thankful for the generosity of the Nursery School, and their desire to bring this important first aid device to the entire St. James’ community. It was also exciting to see so many people sign up to be trained and their commitment to caring for each other.
As we head into summer and that time of year when we all travel hither and yon on vacations, I invite you to maintain this sense of caring for one another by making a point to pray for our
community wherever you find yourself – on Sundays and every day.
Yours in God’s peace,
Kristin+
