Did you know……
…Living the Good News curriculum is used by all grades. It is lectionary based and students are hearing the same lessons at their grade level that parents are hearing during worship. What a wonderful way to share conversation with each other.
…Grades Pre-K through 5th continue to have opening prayer and music in the Great Hall prior to the beginning of their classes. It is a joy to have them sing during the worship service on designated Sundays. Thanks to Jon Fader for providing music with the assistance of the teachers and Mara Snyder.
…The “4th Sunday Fun” group activity is held each month. The older students help the younger ones with many projects and they work well together. Projects this year have included making tree bird feeder treats for our feathered friends, a scavenger hunt, a Passport to Jerusalem journey, modge-podge Lenten coin jars, a beautiful butterfly display. Thank you to Nancy Nanavaty for helping to come up with great ideas.
…Everyone always looks forward to our annual Christmas pageant with participants of all ages dressed as animals, shepherds, angels while singing their hearts out. We tried our first “come-as-you-are” pageant, which was fun! Appreciation is extended to Yvette Allen for directing the program.
…Students love hearing stories from Rick and Mary Ann Smith regarding our Lenten Outreach project for A is for Africa. Our collected coins help to improve the lives of the Matimu school children in Tanzania. In addition, we have collected childrens’ books (B is for Books) for the school library in Matimu. We thank the St. James’ Outreach Committee and parish for continued support.
…Special recognition goes to our high school graduates: Katie McKeever, Bethany Straus, Jordan Williams. All three girls have older brothers and sisters who have attended our Sunday School pro-gram. Katie McKeever has been a St. James’ Sunday School member for over 13 years. Congratulations!
…Our youth have been faithful in participating in the 4th Sunday worship services at 10:30 as readers, ushers, chalice servers. In addition, we have many dedicated acolytes serving every Sunday. We thank Meghan McKeever for her youth ministry.
