A warm welcome to Addie and Susan Straus (3rd-5th grades) a mother-daughter teaching team. Addie is a “graduate” of our St. James’ Sunday School.

The Format Students will meet in the Great Hall (by the altar) at 9:30 a.m. to meet The Rev. Kristin Krantz for an opening prayer. The younger children will have music with “Mr. Jon” and all students will proceed to classrooms in lower level with their teachers.

Bible Stories for Preschoolers Each Sunday a different Bible story will be shared with our little ones in the lower level foyer area. Volunteers are encouraged to participate on a monthly schedule. Please contact Yvette Allen yallen@asbury.org.

Curriculum We continue to use Living the Good News curriculum for all grade levels, kindergarten through high school. It is lectionary based and students will be hearing the same (age appropriate) lessons that adults hear during worship. The leader guides are user-friendly and volunteers are encouraged to participate in this teaching ministry.

“4th Sunday Fun” On the 4th Sunday of each month, all grades participate in a group activity together (many outreach projects) in the lower level foyer space. This popular activity gives our students an opportunity to know one another better while the older youth assist the younger students. In addition, our older youth participate in the 10:30 worship service every 4th Sunday.

Important Information (1) A registration form should be completed for each child attending Sunday School. (2) Attendance is taken weekly and recognition is given at our June closing ceremony. If you plan to be away, advising the teacher of this fact is helpful when planning lessons. (3) Please arrive on time. For safety reasons, we do not want children leaving the building or in the play area unsupervised.
